The United Arab Emirates secured the top spot as the country where social entrepreneurs can easily access non-financial backing such as legal and technical support. The growing number of female business leaders is reflected in the ninth-place position – an improvement of 22 points – for the combined women's score. The country's overall ranking was 12th, up seven places from 2016.
"At the moment there is an increasing investment in social entrepreneurship in the UAE, not just monetary but also in the form of support. Although there is still room for improvement, the trend is positive. There are also more and more Emiratis who are now becoming involved in this sector as well."
